Good to know

I was blessed to purchased this home in May 2025 and spent six months bringing the original owner’s dream of a French-Mediterranean cottage in the high desert back to life. The house was built in 1975 by Mr. Kitt for his daughter. She asked for: A grand fireplace with vaulted ceilings. A raised dining room with French bay windows overlooking the mountains. A classic European-style pool. A pink tiled roof. Her father gave her everything she asked for, but after many years of life and the elements the home had lost much of its original beauty. As a painter I realized the property’s greatest natural asset was the abundant high-desert light. I truly believe this light is healing and has magical qualities. The sun travels east to west across the home each day, washing every room in warm, shifting colors and creating a continuous light show throughout the day. This inspired the choice of avocado-green floors and ceilings paired with pink window frames, a pink kitchen and warm cream white walls. These are complementary colors, and together they create a powerful, energizing contrast—yet in soft pastel tones they feel calming, peaceful, almost like being inside a cloud. As the brilliant desert light moves through the space, it interacts with these surfaces, bouncing, shifting, and reflecting to create even more delicious beauty that literally heals the soul and helps connect us to good feelings. I’ve observed this design philosophy throughout my travels in France, Italy Spain and Greece, where architecture reflects values of life and works in harmony with the sun to create uplifting, restorative environments. The choice of pine & gold furniture and gold fixtures reflect even more glowing warm energy throughout the house nurturing feelings of peace & tranquillity. That was my intention—to create a space that feels healing, light-filled, and deeply soothing. I hope you feel that magic during your stay.

Other Details to Note

We welcome your pets. Each pet is $25 per reservation. Key Features & Amenities: Living area with a grand lime plaster fireplace and vaulted ceilings. Raised dining room with French bay windows overlooking the mountains. Remodeled farmhouse kitchen. New bathroom with a luxurious walk-in shower. Mediterranean-style swimming pool and a year-round hot tub. Outdoor movie theater cabana with a projector. Gold fixtures and pine furniture that reflect a warm, peaceful glow. A charming cactus garden to complete the desert experience. Pool & Hot Tub: Please note that the swimming pool is not heated and serves as a refreshing cold plunge from November through March. The hot tub, however, remains perfectly hot year-round for a relaxing soak. Movie Cabana: The outdoor movie theater is a cozy 10x12 pool house with a projector. As the upper walls are open to the air and there is no door, we recommend cuddling up with a blanket or two for movie nights during the winter. Registration Number: CESTRP-2025-00774

Christopher was an amazing host and created such a beautiful home to stay in. He gave lots of great recommendations for the area and made sure the stay was perfect for my pup and me! The house feels very private yet open and was even more beautiful than what I was expecting. Will definitely be staying here anytime in Joshua tree! Truly a magical and peaceful stay!

We took a week off for a week of pure desert magic for my birthday, and Christopher’s place was the ultimate sanctuary. Even in the high-desert heat, the pool and beautifully designed yard kept us perfectly refreshed. At night sitting outside under a blanket of stars, wrapped in a warm desert breeze—absolute heaven. Inside, the cool AC and fans kept things comfortable. The joyful, serene aesthetic was exactly what we needed to unwind. I didn't open my computer once all week! The location is a perfect basecamp. We loved exploring Joshua Tree National Park and eating at local favorites like La Copine, Pappy and Harriet's, and the JT Saloon. Returning to this peaceful oasis after day trips to Palm Springs and Big Bear Lake was a dream. The house was stocked with endless clean towels and kitchen essentials. Best of all, our pup Poppy loved joining the adventure and meeting Christopher’s dog, Moses. We will absolutely return to this magical spot!

We loved our stay at the pink villa. It was unique and well-decorated, the furnishings were stylish and comfortable, and we felt right at home. The location is very convenient—close to town and the park entrance—while also quiet and private, especially at night under the stars. Christopher was friendly and responsive and very accommodating. Our only regret is we didn’t book an extra night. We will definitely be back.

Cottage was beautiful and Chris has done a great job in further enhancing a unique building with his design flair, whilst keeping it comfortable and practical. Only a short drive into JTNP and great to relax with the pool and hot tub. Chris was a super host, very responsive and we enjoyed viewing an awesome moonrise on the first evening thanks to his timely recommendation!

Chris has created the best space to rest and relax in JT after a long day of hiking and exploring. The amenities were as described in the ad. The hot tub is a great place to see the stars and have a soak! Chris and his team were very responsive and we will be back.
